Since then, we have proceeded to abuse it spectacularly, dragging furniture across it, wheeling our heavy show displays across it, dropping our coffee mugs on it and stomping our snowy boots and muddy shoes across it year after year. It looks beautiful and it convinces many log home customers to put it in their new homes. S4S: These timbers are planed so that they are smooth on all four sides—a very clean and uniform style. Rough Sawn: Looking for a more dramatic appearance? Rough sawn timbers are a very popular choice here at Estemerwalt. While most saw mills nowadays use a band saw to cut their lumber, we still use a circular saw, which gives our rough timbers the characteristic curved saw-marks along each face, just like the old time sawmills. A light sanding will accentuate these saw marks even more prominently and give your project a rustic, handcrafted look. Rustic Aged Rough Sawn: Barn wood has become very fashionable in the past few years, and due to the relative scarcity of old barns being disassembled, the lumber and beams from them have a very fashionable price to match. For the customer who is looking to simulate the aged beam appearance, we have just the beams you are looking for at a much more reasonable price. The dark patinas on our timbers are the natural result of air-drying and sunlight. The darkest beam, when planed, will turn bright white.
